Localized labor market information (LMI) on industries and occupations that are expected to be in-demand can be useful for people considering their career options—but it can also be somewhat hard to access and figure out to use.
Two new tools-- the Occupational Mobility Explorer (OME) and NJ Career Pathways tool—aim to provide important labor market insights in an accessible, interactive way. The OME, for example, can be used to identify occupations with high skill similarities, which can be a critical starting point for visualizing possible career options. The NJ Career Pathway tool provides complementary, in-depth occupational information from the perspectives of employers and industry experts on who is a good fit, how to get started, and how to move up.
This webinar will provide an overview of both tools, followed by examples of how these tools can be used by Pennsylvania job-training practitioners. It is expected to provide practitioners with new tools and ideas for sparking conversations with youth and young adults who are just starting out in their careers, as well as with adults who are considering changing careers or starting out on a new career path.
Lessons learned and a Hands-on Demonstration of a new interactive tool.
